Referred to one of the best bands of all time by Spin, and punk rock fans everywhere, the Ramones first album sold only 6,000 copies in its first year.
Their self titled first album, Ramones, didn’t even break the Billboard Top 100 upon its release, and yet, it is considered by many music critics and fans to be one of the best albums of all time. In fact, Rolling Stone deemed Ramones the 33rd greatest album of all time, and in 2014, was granted gold status after selling over 500,000 copies.
It’s surprising to find that such a successful band was so unsuccessful upon it’s emergence into the music world, especially a band that everyone knows, like the Ramones.
